• 1997–2002 Doctorate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. med. G. Gercken, Universität Hamburg, Institute of Biochemistry and Food Chemistry, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. 
  Practical work completed in the research laboratory at Krankenhaus Grosshansdorf, Centre of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery, Grosshansdorf and at the Dr. Kramer & Kollegen joint practice for laboratory medicine in Geesthacht.
