Biography – Prof. Dr. Alexander Haese
- Studied medicine in Hamburg
- Since 1996 Employed at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), with clinical and scientific focus on urological oncology, including the diagnosis and treatment of prostate carcinoma
- 2001–2002 German Research Foundation scholar with one-year research stay at Johns Hopkins University Medical School
- Since 2004 Urology specialist, consultant at UKE, and leader of the prostate carcinoma special consultation clinic
- Since 2004 Training in use of the da Vinci surgical system for robotic-assisted surgery, with instruction in the USA, Belgium and Switzerland
- 2005 Habilitation
- 2007 Consultant at the Clinic and Policlinic for Urology at UKE
- Since 2008 Director of the robotic-assisted surgery programme at the Martini-Klinik
- 2011 Appointed professor
- Surgical focus: Open and robotic-assisted, nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy and brachytherapy Prof. Dr. Alexander Haese is a certified trainer and helps other centres (including in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, Sweden, Russia and Italy) to establish the da Vinci® prostatectomy method.
